Change in final exam: Demonstration instead of presentation!
To save on time and to make the final project more accessible and fun, we'll do demonstrations instead of presentations.
Demonstrations:
- on your (cleaned) laptop or a loaner laptop, run your code
- allow students, visitors (open to ATLAS friends & family) to use your program
or someone in your group demonstrates the code (good for buggy/incomplete code) - you may have videos, slides and art to demonstrate any reach goals
- answer questions about code, design, motivation by judges (LAs, instructor, ATLS1300 students)
Grading:
Instructor judges scores get tallied to become your "Presentation/Demonstration" grade
Judging topics:
- demonstration - how well do you describe your code? can you show or describe multiple outcomes (win/lose if game)? if slides, are you reading off of them? what is your ability to explain coding decisions (each team member should!)?
- code knowledge & logic - is your code well-organized? what is the logic behind a task in your game (how do you set up sound-generated animations? what attributes did you use to determine win conditions?) did you understand all the code you used? is all borrowed code cited? is outside code <20% of your final code? Are there bugs?
If yes:- Where is the problem?
- What are solutions you're thinking of enacting to fix it?
- Who have you talked to/where did you search for ideas to fix it?
- question answers - you will be asked questions about general knowledge and code execution at the end of your presentation. You should have at least a basic understanding of what each line in your code does! At the very least, you should be able to tell me what that line contributes to the visual/audio effect.
We have 2 options for WHEN the final demo is happening. Vote on which you like! You may come back and change your vote until, Sunday, November 21st.
