ALTEC Classes are fun and non-credit, with an emphasis on conversation. We learn a language by using it. Although it can be uncomfortable at first and we feel that we cannot construct sentences that are as complex as our thoughts, we only get better by trying (and failing, for that matter). ALTEC instructors create a safe space so students feel comfortable with learning through making mistakes.

There are no tests, required homework, or grades. Classes meet 2 times per week over the course of 8 or 10 weeks, either online or in person.

Instructors at ALTEC use a learner-centered approach to teaching. We create activities and interactive games for you as part of your language learning and practice. These include vocabulary building, grammar lessons, and cultural activities. Your instructor will facilitate conversations between you and other participants in your ALTEC learning community, to help you develop a variety of communicative skills.
